Among them: Akanemaru and Aoki Shofuan in Osaka, Chuoken Senbei in Tokyo, Toraya and Tsujiri. Toraya, founded in Kyoto, has made wagashi, Japan's traditional sweets, for five centuries. The sencha is Tsujiri, a tea name that began in Uji, Kyoto, in 1860.

WHO PICKS YOUR SWEETS
Ayaka holding her gokain book, a stamp book from Japan's sweet shops
my gokain book

Hi, I'm Ayaka.

I choose the sweets for this box. I'm also the kind of person who carries a gokain book, a stamp book you fill by visiting Japan's famous sweet shops.

So every treat in your box is one I'd be happy to find in my own. This box is our way of saying thank you to everyone who loves Japan.

QUESTIONS

Questions, answered.

How does the Monthly Plan work?

One box of Japanese sweets ships from Tokyo every month. Dorayaki, yokan, senbei and sencha for two come in every box, and a few seasonal treats change each month. Each box is $55. Shipping is added at checkout, and both are billed together. It renews every month until you cancel.

When does my box ship?

Each box ships from Tokyo within 2 to 3 business days. We can't promise a delivery date, since customs checks on food can add time.

How do I cancel?

Online, anytime. Open Manage my subscription, sign in with the email you used to pay, and choose Cancel subscription. Cancel before your next renewal date to stop the next charge. Deliveries you've already paid for still ship.

Can I get a refund?

Before your first delivery ships, email us from the email address on your order, and we'll refund it in full, shipping included. After a delivery ships, we can't take food back for a change of mind, but if anything arrives damaged or missing, tell us within 14 days of delivery and we'll resend it or refund it.

Can I send it as a gift?

Yes. Enter their U.S. street address at checkout, and each box goes straight to them.

What about food allergies?

We list English ingredients and allergens for every treat on our ingredients page before you pay. The packages are labeled in Japanese. Our boxes aren't suitable for anyone with a food allergy. Treats in this box contain wheat, milk, egg, soy and sesame; some contain shrimp or crab (shellfish), fish (bonito or mackerel), pork, chicken extract or gelatin. Several contain honey: do not give honey to children under 12 months. Some contain small amounts of alcohol used in cooking.

Will I get exactly what's pictured?

Pictures show example deliveries based on our real boxes and treats. A few seasonal treats change each month, and if one runs out, we replace it with a similar Japanese treat.

Who is it for?

Adults 18+ who'd like a little Japan at home, with a street address in the 50 U.S. states or D.C. Some treats may be a choking hazard for young children, and several contain honey, so please don't give them to babies under 12 months.

Can I change my address?

Yes. Email us before your next delivery ships.
